Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what the Aeroscribe app (the "App") and the aeroscribe.com website (the "Website") do with information. The App is published by Aeroscribe LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("Aeroscribe", "we", "us").

Summary

• The App has no accounts. It does not ask for your name, email address or location.
• Your settings, transcripts and test logs stay on your device. We receive them only if you choose to send them to us.
• To turn speech into text, the App uses your device's speech recognition service, which may process audio on its provider's servers (see "Speech recognition").
• The App contains no advertising, analytics or tracking tools, and we do not sell or share your information for advertising.

Microphone and audio

The App needs permission to record audio. It listens only while transcription is running, which starts when you tap Record and ends when you tap Stop. It uses the audio input your device provides: a cable from a radio or headset, or the device's built-in microphone. If you use the built-in microphone, the App may also hear people talking nearby, for example in the cockpit.

Speech recognition

The App passes the audio it hears to the speech recognition service built into your device's operating system: on Android, usually Google's speech service; on iPhone and iPad, Apple's. Depending on your device and its settings, that service converts the audio on the device or sends it to its provider's servers. The provider's own privacy policy governs that processing. We do not receive this audio.

Information stored on your device

• Settings: your callsign, the local names you enter, and the App's switches (for example noise reduction and aviation vocabulary).
• Test logs: each time you tap Record, the App writes a diagnostic log containing the transcribed text, timing and audio-level information, the audio input in use, and the App and device versions. The App keeps the 10 most recent logs and deletes older ones automatically.
• Audio recordings: only if you turn on the raw audio switch, the App also saves a recording of the incoming audio for each session. It keeps the 3 most recent recordings and deletes older ones automatically.

This information stays in the App's private storage on your device. Uninstalling the App, or clearing its storage in your device settings, deletes it. If your device's backup feature is turned on, your operating system may include the App's data in your device backup, under your own account with your device provider.

Information you choose to send us

• Feedback: Send Feedback opens your own email app with a message addressed to us. The message contains the text you type plus the App version, operating system version and device model, and you can review or change it before sending. When you send it, we receive your email address and the message.
• Test logs: Share test log hands the files to an app you choose. If you send them to us, we receive their contents, which include transcripts and, if the raw audio switch was on, audio recordings.

We use what you send only to reply to you and to fix and improve the App. We keep it only as long as needed for those purposes, and we delete it when you ask. We do not sell it or share it with anyone, except service providers that host our email, or where the law requires.

The Website

aeroscribe.com is hosted on GitHub Pages. It has no forms or accounts, sets no cookies, and uses no analytics or advertising tools, and its fonts are served from the site itself. Like any web host, GitHub receives your IP address and browser details when you visit and may log them for security and to operate the service, as described in GitHub's privacy statement. If you email us using a link on the Website, we handle your message as described under "Information you choose to send us".

Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

• You can deny or withdraw the App's microphone permission in your device settings at any time. The App cannot transcribe without it.
• You can delete everything the App stores on your device by clearing its storage or uninstalling it.
• You can ask us to show you, correct or delete anything you have sent us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor requests that apply to you.

Security

Information the App stores stays in its private storage, which other apps cannot read. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable care with anything you send us.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the App before it takes effect.
